My Research Topic The Three R’s is a three generation study of black women in dance and education, utilizing my new research method, empathetic embodiment, to understand the data in different ways. Throughout my research, I've explored dance, dance pedagogy, embodiment, arts-based methods, Black teaching & learning, Black feminist theory, arts education, equity in education, & critical pedagogies. This work aims to use narrative and arts-based methods to chronicle the lives of 3 generations of Black women teachers within my maternal lineage.

I am excited to share my findings and engage with you during the defense as we dive deeper into the topic!

Empathetic Embodiment: A Somaesthetic Rational for New Data Analysis Method

My poster will share the theoretical framework and experimental findings of a new analysis method which I am currently developing as part of my dissertation study. "Empathetic Embodiment," integrates movement improvisation, dance composition, and traditional qualitative data analysis to gain an understanding of participants' experiences through the body.
